Operational check: stop the demo, state the correct lockout step in plain language, have the operator redo that step successfully, then continue. Confirm the rest of the crew can articulate the corrected step before resuming higher-risk practice. In public-works and water-utility classrooms, modeling factual correction without personal attack also teaches crews how to coach each other on shift when the instructor is not present. Residents depend on lockout discipline that survives peer pressure; dignity-preserving feedback makes that culture more likely. Before releasing the crew, confirm two operators can restate the corrected step in their own words and demonstrate it once without prompting.
