Full Explanation
GitHub Connect (formerly Business GitHub Connect) establishes a secure link between a GitHub Enterprise Server instance and an organization on GitHub.com. Enabled features include: (1) Unified Search — users can search GitHub.com repositories from GHES search. (2) Unified Contributions — users can have GHES contributions appear on their GitHub.com profile. (3) GitHub Actions — GHES instances can use Actions from GitHub Marketplace. (4) Dependabot alerts — pull vulnerability data from the GitHub Advisory Database. (5) License usage sync — aggregate license counts across GHES and GHEC. GitHub Connect requires a GitHub.com organization account (or Enterprise Cloud) and is configured in GHES site admin settings. It sends telemetry data to GitHub.com as part of the connection.
